Competency Assessment & External Verifications

Essential:

Assessing competence requires observing candidates performing workplace tasks according to specified standards. Whenever possible, a trained assessor should conduct these observations. However, if this is not feasible, an expert witness may observe candidates on behalf of the trained assessor.

Observations must be supplemented by questioning to confirm that candidates possess and can apply relevant knowledge and understanding to meet the specified standards.

The assessment process can be supported by relevant workplace documents and job records, as well as witness testimony from individuals who can provide informed feedback on candidate performance.

Based on the assessment findings and gap analysis, a remedial action plan will be developed and endorsed by management, with a predetermined implementation timeframe.
